Montana Guide- Business Edition

Hey everyone! So if you haven’t noticed, we have been working crazy hard on a Montana Guide! While the “to do”, “to eat”, and “adventure” part of the guide will come more slowly, we are already working on the Business end of the guide! Here at T&O, we LOVE supporting fellow local businesses! And Montana has so many to choose from! Each business we are featuring has photos, and 5 Behind The Scenes question so you can learn more about them! Think you know a business? Learn more about your favorites, and enjoy reading about some you may not have heard of! Got a favorite business that you don’t see? Please let us know! We want to add ALL the small businesses we can!

The guide is a little rough right now, but our webmaster is working hard on a total redesign! You’ll be able to search the Guide by city, activity, food, and more! We will also slowly be releasing “City Day Trip” guides, with all of our recommended things to do if you only have one day to visit!

We hope you enjoy, and we would love your input! Favorite places to eat, shop, adventures, and more! Check out the Online Business section HERE and shop from your couch, and the Storefront (& online) Business Section HERE!

I look forward to sharing more with you all! Xoxo, Jess

April Showers…- April ’18 Blog

Wow, can you believe it’s April already? I certainly can’t! We are officially on our 4th monthly blog and loving it! We hope you all are enjoying this style of blogging also!

April is one of my favorite months of the year! Spring is coming, there is rain and thunderstorms, snow is melting (*hopefully*), my friends are gearing up for their summer weddings, and more! There is so much going on, and so this month’s blog we are going to try to explore all of it!

What’s Going on in the T&O House:

Y’all were expecting a spring cleaning tip weren’t you? Puh-lease, we have to be a bit more interesting than that! This month, instead of cleaning, we are getting a bit dirty!

Earlier in March, Coby discovered that we have a garden at the rental house. Not just any garden, but a FENCED IN garden so Miss Hazel can’t “help” this year. That means, it was time to go out and buy some seeds! We bought a lot of seeds (more than I care to let you all know), and starter mix and everything to help get those little guys growing! So we thought we would tell you about their first month of growing (and our first month as gardeners!).

Our little gardening “helper”
Such tiny seeds!!

The first thing we did was get a seed starter from Walmart. Nothing fancy, just the one that had the little “greenhouse” lid on it. This made a world of difference from when I had tried to start seeds in years past! We got little green sprouts growing really quickly! The little greenhouse lid thing doesn’t really allow for those garden sticks to stick up very well, so we labeled them all, then took a picture with a piece of tape on one side. This allowed us to remove the garden label sticks, but also be able to rotate the seed tray while still knowing which plants were which.

all labeled!
First little sprouts!!

Fast forward to a few weeks later to while I’m writing this blog. We have already transplanted the tomatoes into a bigger pot, they have outgrown the seed tray! One of the tips we got was to build a tomato cone thing, which Coby is going to be in charge of. It was also recommended we put a bit of sugar in the soil to help the tomatoes taste sweeter, but we aren’t so sure about that one. The basil has been planted in our indoor herb garden (see the DIY below!), and we are just waiting for it to be warm enough to plant the rest outside! Be sure to check out our Instagram for more photos of our garden in the upcoming weeks!

Do  you have any gardening tips? Please let us know them in the comments! We need all the help we can get!

Recipe of the Month:

This month we are super into plants, and spring, and WATER! So our recipe this month is SUPER easy. We are exploring water infusions! I love infusing my water because it helps make me feel refreshed, and actually makes me drink more water! I even have two special water bottles specifically for infusing stuff into my water. So this month I thought I’d share my favorite recipes with you!

How to infuse your water:

  1. Slice up your fruit/veggies/herbs. You want to do this enough so they release their goodness!
  2. Add your goodies into a pitcher of water (or a water bottle).
  3. Let sit in the fridge for at least an hour, or up to 2 days!
  4. Sit back, and enjoy!

You can just keep refilling your pitcher of water, but keep an eye on the herbs/fruit/veggies! You don’t want them getting moldy! What are some of your favorite water infusion recipes?

DIY Tutorial of the Month:

Keeping with the theme of course, we are exploring indoor gardens for those of you that may not be able to have an outdoor garden! We have tried to do indoor gardening over the last year, because we love working with FRESH herbs, not that “fresh” you get from Walmart either. It’s my personal belief that just a little bit of fresh herbs in your cooking can make or break your dish! So we made an indoor cup garden, check it out in the DIY section! For more indoor garden ideas, check out our Pinterest!

T-Shirt of the Month:

So I went back and forth on doing Bridesmaid shirts for the t-shirt of the month this month, but I figured maybe enough people weren’t getting married! So we are doing those as custom orders. But, while we were searching for inspiration, we stumbled across a great idea! T&O started in May 2015 (I know, crazy!). So, this month, we are going back to the beginning! We are offering our Montana Mandala decal as a t-shirt! This is one of the first decals we ever offered on T&O, and it’s still one of my favorites to this day! Each decal takes me over 45 minutes to make, but it is so gorgeous it’s worth it! Trust me- it looks just as stunning on a t-shirt!

Even more exciting, because **Summer** is coming soon, we are offering this print as a tank top! We don’t carry tank tops in stock, but we have matched up with an amazing seller to get them for us! The tank tops will be pre-ordered with the same date as the first t-shirts (April 10th), then tank tops will be ordered and printed when they come in!

For this month, we will be offering 3 prints! The first two print pre-orders will end on April 10th! T-shirts will be printed on April 11th, and tank tops will be ordered and printed when they come in (usually 4-5 days). The second t-shirt print will stop taking orders on April 29th and be printed then! Order your shirts HERE!

What’s on Sale?

April showers bring May flowers! But flowers aren’t the only ones who need to be staying hydrated as warmer weather comes our way! You need to stay hydrated too! This month we are offering “water timer” bottles for your pleasure! I’m super excited about these! These are “skinny” tumblers, so they fit perfect in cup holders and are comfortable in your hands! These are 16oz double walled acrylic tumblers. With the water timer on the back, you’re sure to stay hydrated all day long!

Shop for them HERE!

Spring is Coming… Someday! -March ’18 Blog

Hey everyone! We are so excited about our T&O revamp! One of the first things we are trying out is our new T&O Newsletter and once a month blog! The newsletter is a short view of the full blog (which is this)! Each month we will be showcasing some fun organizational tips, a new recipe for you to try, a DIY activity, and T&O Sales!

When I first started T&O, I wanted it to be an organizational journey my readers & I could take together! So this month I’m doing the blog a little different. I’m going to give you a Home Tip & a DIY that I haven’t done yet! Instead of blogging AT you, lets do these together! I’ll give you some ideas, then we can post pics using hashtags and Facebook, and learn from each other! The winners of each category will win a $25 T&O gift card, and the second place will win the T-Shirt of the Month! And if no one participates I will go back to the regular blogging style because this was a bust! Read on….

I know it doesn’t seem like it, but spring is coming soon! It’s best to be prepared when that first warm day shows up! March is my favorite time to start prepping for spring that way im not scrambling in April when I want to be enjoying the sun! So this month we will be checking out some fun spring DIYs, recipes, and more!

Home Organization Tip:

I believe that spring cleaning begins in the kitchen! After moving twice in 7 months, my kitchen was a disaster area! Plus, during the winter we tend to stock up on canned and packaged foods which makes our pantry a mess! So this month I’m showing you all my favorite cupboard and pantry organizational products and tips!

So this is my current pantry, this month I will be working on cleaning it up and will share the after pic once it’s done! For those of you participating in this T&O Challenge, be sure you take before and after pics!!

Products I Love

The first part of pantry organization I see ALL OVER PINTEREST is taking your products out of  their packaging and putting them in cute, labeled jars! You can find a great organization set HERE on Amazon, then all you need is labels! You put all your pantry items in them and BAM!- easy pantry organization! If you want to REALLY get organized, The Container Store has a Fridge Starter Kit, Luxury Pantry Kit (currently on my wishlist), and a regular Pantry Starter Kit!

For my first step, I bought some of these clear organizing tubs and labeled them! Like my Pantry Labels? With a printer and some sticker paper, you can DIY them! Or, you can always order the pantry labels from us here at T&O! Check out our new Home Products section!

Want to do even more? Clean out the stuff you don’t really eat in the summer (goodbye Costco case of Chili, you don’t need THAT much Coby!!) and donate it to the food bank!

For some serious *Pinspiration*, check out our Pinterest Board!  We can’t wait to see what you come up with! Share photos with us via Instagram (@TrendyOrganized or #TrendyAndOrganized) or Facebook (or messenger)! At the end of the month, we will have a vote on the best before and after pictures, and the winner will win a $25 T&O Gift Card!

Recipe of the Month:

So most of you that know me, know I’m a bit (ok, a lot) of a nerd! One of my favorite days in March is March 14th, or Pi day! Some of you may know Pi as a mathmatical constant that is the ratio of a circles circumfrence to its diameter. Others may know it as 3.14(159265). Some of you may just be drooling because I mentioned pie! One of my favorite Youtubers is Ro Pansino, who runs Nerdy Nummies! She has not one, but FOUR Pi Day recipes for you and she is a blast to watch! Check them out!

If you were hoping to see Saint Patricks Day ideas, check out our March Pinterest Board!

DIY Tutorial of the Month:

This month is all about our spring preparations! So many of the social media pages I follow have been sharing these super cute, super fun, and super EASY spring wreath DIY’s! They are so popular and can be customized to fit your style! Check out the videos below, then create your own! Supplies can be found at your local craft stores or Walmart!

You can check out our Pinterest Board for more inspiration! Then create your own! Just like the Pantry Organization, we added a bit of a competition to this one! Share your photos with us and you could win a $25 T&O Gift Card!

T-Shirt of the Month:

Daylight savings time is on March 11th. Unfortunately this means those of us not in Arizona will lose an hour of sleep! To show our “appreciation” of daylight savings, this months Shirt of The Month is our fun hand lettered Nap Queen shirt! This shirt is screen printed for durability, and is fun enough to wear all times of the year! Bonus points if you wear the shirt WHILE taking a nap! All you have to do is click SHOP HERE and pick your shirt size!

For March, the first Nap Queen batch will be shipped on March 5th so they will be there by Daylight Savings, then the second batch will be shipped March 31st!

What’s on Sale?

Easter is coming April 1st, so this month we are releasing our super fun Easter Baskets! We have 4 colors available- Blue, Pink, Green, and Purple! Love is in the air this February!! The best part about Valentine’s day is YOU DON’T HAVE to BE IN A RELATIONSHIP to enjoy it!!! I know this is an ENTIRELY new concept to a lot of you, and I used to be the “I hate Valentines Day” and “Singles Awareness Day” person too. But think about it, you may not have a romantic significant other, but you have tons of other relationships! Your BFF, your family, even your neighbors! This month we are looking into ways to celebrate ALL of our relationships and the people we love!

Recipe of the Month:

For Valentines Day, we were wanting a nice dinner! But- we didn’t want to have to spend the money to go out! So I whipped up this Pork Chop and pasta in the slow cooker, made some delicious (and easy!) rolls and salads, and made a wonderful dinner! I’ve crash tested it, revamped it, and am ready to share the recipes with you! Bonus- look like a Valentine’s Day Pro with my easy creme brulee recipe (you’re welcome). Check it out under the Recipe’s tab, or Click Here!

New Year – New T&O! : January Blog

We are going to be doing the blog a few different ways, then we will send out a survey to see what you prefer!

So it’s January, which is a time of renewal! Resolutions, organization, and new hobbies are all on your mind this month! Well, they’re on my mind! So this month’s blog/newsletter is here to help you out with all your 2018 goals!

Home Organization Tip:

So many people’s new years resolution are to get organized and STAY organized! This can be a difficult task for sure. As a messy “Creative” person, my house is often a mess. Like, bad. I have so many thoughts going through my head at once it’s hard to keep track of them all and I often leave things out! So, I’ve brought in my favorite organized person to help us out! Coby puts up with my messes on a daily basis, and has some tips for dealing with you or your families messes! We also got some awesome tips from my Facebook friends that I had to share!!

  1. Dishes can account for some of the worst smelling and ugliest part of your house! By washing, drying, and putting the dishes away at the end of each day you can reduce the cluttered look a lot!
  2. On the computer side of things, use a password organizer like LastPass! It’s great for using and keeping your passwords safe, as well as sharing passwords with family members! Or, safely share your Netflix password with your friends 😉
  3. Cleaning the counters daily makes a huge different!
  4. Make your bed each day! Your bedroom can be a mess, but if you make your bed it automatically makes it LOOK a lot neater! – Patti S.
  5. On the bed note- check out how this motivational video starts out! – Laurel W.
  6.  “I meal plan as prep! It helps give me more time throughout the week and I’m not going out or trying to figure out what to eat” – Liz W.
  7. “Five minutes at a time. Set a timer so it’s not overwhelming and stop when your time is up. Do this every day!”- Wendy D.
  8.  “Make to-do lists!” – Laurel W.
  9.  “I try very hard [to be organized] but motherhood has taught me that it’s okay to get off track once in a while and nothing is perfect. So my advice would be if you find yourself off track, take a deep breath and get yourself back on track.” – Waynetta D.

Recipe of the Month:

Having recently moved back to Montana, January makes me think of the cold. Really cold. A lot of cold. But we are also trying to think healthy for the new year! So I decided this month for our first recipe, we totally needed a healthy meal prep! Plus I got an Instant Pot for Christmas and needed to try it out…

The full recipe can be found on this awesome blog! All I did was add more veggies and onions!

Future recipes will be found in our recipe category!

DIY Tutorial of the Month:

Home command center!! I’m so excited about this one guys, they’re so fun and customizable for you and your family! Want to make your own? Check out the full DIY tutorial in the DIY category HERE!! Want more *Inspiration*? Check out our January Newsletter Pinterest board here!
